Meet Olena Sheiko, MA, CCC
EMDR & Trauma Therapist in Burnaby
Client focus: Adults
Languages spoken: English, Ukrainian, Russian & Mandarin
As a Ukrainian, I know what it means to keep hope alive in uncertainty. Before becoming a counsellor, I lived and worked as a teacher in Ukraine and China. Building meaningful relationships with my students taught me how understanding, warmth, and genuine connection can nurture growth and confidence — experiences that inspired me to become a counsellor.
I hold two graduate degrees in Education and Counselling Psychology. My experience as an educator helps me meet clients where they are and explain complex ideas with clarity. I’ve also worked in administrative roles in Canada, which gave me insight into corporate environments.
I use an integrative approach grounded in person-centred therapy and EMDR, drawing on CBT and mindfulness-based strategies to support individuals navigating anxiety, trauma, and relational difficulties. Clients often describe me as warm and authentic. In sessions, I strive to create a calm, collaborative space where you can slow down, process what feels heavy, and reconnect with your strengths.
